Within Ghent University, the Faculty of Bioscience engineering is concerned with research on the production and processing of living matter, with a view to producing healthy, safe and long-term products. The Department of Agricultural Economics, and in particular the division of Agrifood-marketing and chain management contributes to this objective by applying socio-economic and marketing techniques to agrifood in the broadest sense: involving consumer studies, supply chain management, innovation and network studies, waste treatment and diversification (traditional products, food tourism).
